Georgia Davies bagged Britain’s first medal of the World Short Course Championships with 100m backstroke bronze in Canada.
The Loughborough-based swimmer was just pipped by Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu who took gold with Canada’s Kylie Masse taking silver.
Davies clocked 56.45secs in the 25m pool in Windsor as ‘Iron Lady’ Hosszu won in 55.54secs and Masse in 56.24.
Fellow Brit Kathleen Dawson continued her impressive breakthrough into the senior ranks to finish fifth in the final.
Wales’ Commonwealth Games champ Davies, 26, has been joined in Canada by fellow Welsh swimmer Chloe Tutton.
The City of Cardiff ace, who finished fourth in the 200m breaststroke at the Rio Olympics, gets her individual medal bid underway on Friday.
