Davies Blasts To Stunning Victory In Spain

Chaz Davies ignited his World Superbikes title bid as he powered to victory in Spain on Saturday.

The Knighton-born flier bagged the 10th win of his career with a stunning victory on the Motorland Aragon track he must love.

Davies triumphed on the circuit where he scored the first win for the Ducati Panigale bike 12 months ago.

He showed his delighted as he blasted across the line with his front wheel aloft before pumping his fists.

The 29-year-old had started sixth but dominated the 18-lap race after grabbing the lead after just three laps to end Kawasaki’s unbeaten start to the season.

Davies finished just over four seconds ahead of defending champ Jonathan Rea who snatched second from team-mate Tom Sykes who started on pole.

And Davies, 29, said: “It’s brilliant to get my 10th win in World Superbikes and it’s good news for the championship as it was all about getting the 25 points.

“It was a bit tricky at the start, but once I got my rhythm I could just reel off the laps as I wanted.”

Davies, who finished runner-up last year, moved into third in the championship standings just two points behind Sykes and 35 adrift of Ulsterman Rea.

And he will be looking to complete the double in Sunday’s second race.
