The FAW have announced that the JD Cymru Premier season will resume on Tuesday 2nd March after it was given the green light to return yesterday.
Newtown will host Penybont at Latham Pak in the first JD Cymru Premier fixture since the league was suspended on 22 December.
The 12 JD Cymru Premier clubs then play twice a week to complete their final six matches of Phase One, which culminates on Friday 2nd April.
Newtown manager Chris Hughes said: “It’s a tough start as Penybont are one of the in-form teams in the league and we’re looking forward to returning.”
The first full programme of JD Cymru Premier league fixtures will follow on Saturday 6th March, including Bala Town’s visit to current leaders The New Saints.
Defending champions Connah’s Quay resume the season in second-place, three points behind The New Saints but with a game in-hand.
The release of fixtures follows yesterday’s news that National Sport Group (NSG) had reinstated the ‘Elite Status’ of the JD Cymru Premier and the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League with immediate effect.
Fixture details for the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League are to be confirmed in the coming week.
Tier 2 leagues the JD Cymru North and JD Cymru South have not yet been granted ‘Elite Status’ and will remain on hold until further notice.
