There are just days left until the thrilling FIA World Rally Championship roars into the UK for the 2016 Dayinsure Wales Rally GB (27-30 October).
Firmly established as one of the stand-out classics on the motor sport calendar, the showcase opens with a glittering Ceremonial Start on Thursday evening in Colwyn Bay. Hours later, early on Friday morning, three days of high-octane speed tests blast off in the legendary forests of mid Wales. It’s then against-the-clock action all the way to Sunday’s Ceremonial Finish in Llandudno.
The famous event was first staged back in 1932 and has been won by many of the greatest names in rallying from Flying Finns such as Timo Mäkinen and Hannu Mikkola to local heroes including Colin McRae and Richard Burns. Currently the man to beat is French ace Sébastien Ogier – he’s just wrapped up a fourth consecutive World Championship title for his Volkswagen Motorsport team and is now gunning for four back-to-back wins here in Britain. Home hopes rest with Kris Meeke; the man from Northern Ireland finished runner-up to Ogier last year and has already notched up two wins this season in his Citroën.
While many of those famous names are well-known to both hardcore fans and a wider audience, that of the long-running event’s new title partner – Dayinsure – may be less familiar.
Based in Tarporley, Cheshire close to the rally’s headquarters in Deeside, Dayinsure was founded in 2005 and has grown into one of the UK’s leading providers of short-term car insurance. It operates entirely online and offers immediate comprehensive cover for any 24-hour period from one to 28 days with backing from both Aviva and Allianz.
With growing awareness, more and more customers are turning to temporary vehicle insurance whether as a trouble-free way to add another driver to their policy or as an easy and cost-effective way of insuring themselves on another vehicle on a short-term basis.
Dayinsure was the first to offer motorists such online cover and has enjoyed record sales since announcing, in early June, that it was becoming the new title partner of Britain’s prestigious round of the FIA World Rally Championship.
“It’s all about spreading the word,” said company founder and Chairman, Dennis Ryan. “The concept of insuring a car on a temporary basis is still new to many people – even keen motorists – and we are using the rally to make more people aware of what Dayinsure is and just how simple and efficient it is to use. Our new partnership with what is now Dayinsure Wales Rally GB is already doing that.”
The positive response from those already ‘Dayinsuring’ their vehicles is well documented on the Trustpilot.com website, where more than 90 per cent of reviewers rate Dayinsure with a maximum five stars.
The Dayinsure logo will not only be seen on all the rally cars contesting next week’s major event but also on banners and flags right around the route. The most prominent bit of branding, though, is likely to be the ‘Dayinsure Donut’, the focal point of Saturday’s family-friendly RallyFest at Cholmondeley Castle.
Adding to the entertainment, all the competing cars will perform a tyre-burning 360-degree turn around the Dayinsure Donut as part of the competitive section. It promises to be quite a spectacle – not to mention further great exposure for Dayinsure!
