Cory McKenna has revealed she suffered a torn ligament and broken right ankle in his historic UFC debut victory in Las Vegas.
The 21-year-old from Cwmbran beat American Kay Hansen when she became the first Welsh woman to fight in the premier series.
But McKenna’s hopes of a quick return to the ring look to have been dashed after the results of the MRI scans.
Thanks for all the concern -got my MRI results back this morning. I completely tore a ligament and fractured my ankle when I rolled it going into the 3rd round of that fight. Looks like I'll be forced to take a break but can't wait to get this cleared up and jump back in there! pic.twitter.com/V9yYLMKRW9

McKenna, nicknamed Poppins, said after her unanimous victory over the California that she had hurt her ankle.
But, unfortunately, the injury is worse than McKenna – who has been training at the Team Alpha Male gym in Sacramento, California – first feared.
McKenna, though, made a huge statement with her victory over the highly-rated Hansen and knows she will improve even more over the coming years.
