Cork Backs Swansea To Pass North London Test

JACK CORK reckons Swansea can put a damper on Arsenal and Tottenham’s bid for Premier League glory and boost their survival hopes.

The struggling Swans face Spurs on February 28 and will then stay in London for the game at the Emirates three days later.

And Cork insists the Welsh outfit can move closer to safety – they are three points above the drop zone – by taking points off the North London rivals who are both two points behind Leicester.

The midfielder, 26, said: “They’re games that we’re not really expected to get anything from, but look at Saturday when Sunderland beat Manchester United.

“I know we’re down the bottom, but no-one is expecting us to win so maybe we can go there and get something.

“We beat Arsenal twice last season and it would be good to get a result against Tottenham because I know we haven’t really done that yet.

“They’ve got a young team, the core of which is British, a good manager who’s done really well lately and there’s no reason why they can’t push to the top of the table.

“We have to try and get a result, but they’ve had a great season.”

The Swans suffered their first defeat in five games at home to Southampton last Saturday.

But Cork insisted: “We’re in a good bit of form.

“After the tough couple of games in London we’ve got some games against teams around us

“Things can completely change. All we need is two or three wins and you’re right out of there.”
