Merthyr Town lie third in Southern League Premier South after a 4-2 home win against Gosport Borough at the MetCoaches Stadium.
More than 400 spectators watched the Martyrs surge into a three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Corey Jenkins (10 mins), Ian Traylor (17) and Kerry Morgan (21).
Tony Lee pulled a goal back on 23 minutes, while the impressive Tom Meechan made it 4-1 just after the hour.
Thomas Leggett hit back for Gosport with 15 minutes left, but Merthyr ran out worthy winners.
Manager Gavin Williams used three substitutes with Connor Young, Lee Price and Matty Harris going on. Winger Jenkins was given a standing ovation by home fans when he was replaced by Price.
Merthyr have collected seven points from three matches and are now preparing for Saturday’s trip to Farnborough.
That is followed by a home fixture against Frome Town on Bank Holiday Monday.
