Connah’s Quay will be looking to use tonight’s Nathaniel MG Cup second round tie with Bangor City to avenge last week’s league defeat to the Citizens.
The two sides met seven days ago in a rearranged JD Welsh Premier League fixture – and on that occasion Bangor City claimed a 1-0 victory.
Bangor were dominant for long periods as Nomads keeper John Danby did his best to thwart City with a defiant performance in goal to keep a slender scoreline.
Bangor’s player/assistant manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher eventually broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining.
The Nomads enter the competition in the second round after reaching the semi-final stage of the competition last year, where they were eliminated by eventual winners The New Saints.
Club captain George Horan is available once again having completed a one-match ban and will bolster the league’s meanest defence.
Andy Morrison’s side have conceded just three goals in their opening seven league outings but will be all too familiar with Bangor City’s attacking prowess.
Bangor eased their way into the second round after Dean Rittenberg found the back of the net four times in a comfortable 5-2 victory over Cymru Alliance side Denbigh Town.
The New Saints are looking to win the trophy for a fourth-straight year and begin their defence against Flint Town United.
Scott Ruscoe is expected to rotate his squad as they embark on a busy run of three games in eight days.
The New Saints beat Barry Town in last year’s final and the Dragons return to Jenner Park where they will host Afan Lido.
After eliminating WPL-Llandudno in the first round, Cymru Alliance leader’s Caernarfon Town will be keen to continue their run in the competition when they make the short trip to Anglesey to face Holyhead Hotspur.
Welsh Premier strugglers Carmarthen and Aberystwyth will both be looking to avoid upsets against lower league opposition.
The league’s bottom-two sides face Haverfordwest County and recently relegated Airbus UK respectively.
