Chaz Davies Looking To Extend Winning Run At Imola

Chaz Davies is looking to maintain his remarkable winning record at Imola and boost his World Superbikes title hopes this weekend.

The Knighton-born rider has won the last four races on what is a ‘home’ track for his aruba.it Racing Ducati team which is based nearby.

Davies will cut into Jonathan Rea’s lead over him in the standings if he can maintain that winning record.

The 31-year-old is currently second in the championship on 129 points 30 points behind the reigning champ from Ulster after four rounds of the season.

Davies said: “Imola is a special place.

“We’ve been particularly competitive there in the past two years, even going above our expectations.

“It’s just been one of those circuits where we’ve been able to get into a good rhythm quite fast.

“The track itself has some hard-braking areas that suit my style, and I’ve always been very motivated since we’ve been surrounded by all the Ducati people and fans, who have so much passion.

“But nothing stands still in racing, so we need to keep our head down and be prepared for a battle, as always.”

Davies bagged Ducati’s first win on the Panigale R bike on the Imola track named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari in 2016.

The two-time championship runner-up went on to claim the double that year before repeating the feat last season.
