Swansea City have revealed they made £1.1m from their FA Cup run which was ended in controversial fashion by Manchester City at the quarter-final stage.
The club – who are about to start making redundancies throughout the non-playing side of their operation – have calculated they made over the million mark from prize money, TV revenue and the £250,000 EFL Divisional Prize Fund.
That third payment was split with Millwall and awarded for being the Championship clubs that went furthest in the competition.
The Swans beat Aston Villa, Gillingham and Brentford to set-up a last-eight clash with Premier League champions Manchester City, which they eventually lost 3-2.
Whether any of that unexpected extra income is used for their on or off pitch operations remains to be seen, but the chances of it being increased by any promotion riches at the end of this campaign are remote.
The Swans travel to Nottingham Forest today on the back of four defeats in their last five league matches and are as much in relegation contention as they are in contention for the play-offs.
Manager Graham Potter is a man who likes to see the glass half full and although his team are on a losing run of three matches – including the Manchester City defeat – he remains upbeat.
“I feel we have made some progress, we have had three defeats but the performances have been good,” claimed Potter.
“The challenge for us is to turn those performances into results. We are not naive and we know we have to do that.
“That’s where we are at, but there have been some positive signs.
“It’s going to be an intense period coming up, 10 games in six weeks, but we cannot worry too much about what might happen in six weeks’ time, we have to focus on the here and now.”
Potter has top goalscorer Oli McBurnie available again after illness for the clash with Forest.
McBurnie missed Swansea’s three games before the international break, including defeat to Manchester City, but the 18-goal marksman did start Scotland’s Euro 2020 qualifying defeat to Kazakhstan last week.
Defender Joe Rodon is in contention for the first time since breaking his foot in January, but Leroy Fer (hamstring) remains out and is to have a scan to determine when he is likely to return.
Goalkeeper Erwin Mulder is likely to miss the rest of the season after breaking a finger, so young German Steven Benda will understudy Kristoffer Nordfeldt.
Forest have striker Lewis Grabban available after he missed five games for the play-off-chasers with an Achilles injury.
Forest are unbeaten in their last five home league games against the Swans (W3 D2), although this will be the first such meeting since September 2010.
The Swans have lost six of their last seven away league matches in March (W0 D1 L6) since winning 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in March 2016.
