Cardiff Devils set out on a revenge mission when they visit Milton Keynes Lightning this evening (6pm).
Elite League leaders Devils won 6-3 against Lightning at home in the last match of 2017, but they were crushed 5-2 when they travelled to Milton Keynes Arena for a Challenge Cup tie earlier this season.
Devils are keen to show they can overcome Lightning away.
Lightning are boosted by the return of second leading point scorer Francis Verreault-Paul after suspension in what will be their sixth game in 11 games.
The Devils come to MK in red hot form, having not lost a league game since late November, but coach Andrew Lord has warned his team about complacency.
Lightning include former Devils players Guillaume Doucett and Denny Kearney, who both scored at Ice Arena Wales on Saturday, December 30, plus Carl Hudson.
Swedish netminder Miika Wiikman is a goalie who can produce match winning performances, while former Belfast Giants player Matt Nickerson is highly influential.
MK coach Peter Russell is also in charge of the Great Britain team and is a former head of Devils youth development.
Lightning are intent on opening the New Year with a bang and a club spokesman said: “This game provides the perfect
opportunity for Pete’s players.”

Lord’s men follow their trip to Milton Keynes on New Year’s Day with an away fixture in Guildford Flames on Saturday, January 6 (7pm).
Those trips are followed by two home games, against Nottingham Panthers on Sunday, January 7 (6pm) before they face Flames in the second leg of their cup quarter-final the following Wednesday.
