Cardiff City To Host Leeds In Live TV Clash On Re-Start Weekend . . . But Swans Fans Must Wait For Game Three

Cardiff City’s Championship clash at home to Leeds United will spearhead the opening weekend of matches to be shown live on TV when the campaign resumes next week.

The Bluebirds’ fixture against the leaders will be screened live on Sky Sports on Sunday June 21 at 12.00 as the season starts again behind closed doors.

Swansea City’s first match since the season was halted in March will be the day before Cardiff’s – a match not televised live at Middlesbrough on Saturday June 20 at 3.00pm.

The Swans’ third game back will be broadcast live on TV – away to Milwall on Tuesday June, 30.

Steve Cooper’s men will renew their play-off push behind-closed-doors at Middlesbrough on Saturday, June 20 (3pm), with Luton arriving at the Liberty Stadium the following Saturday, June 27 (3pm).

Fixtures remain in the same order pre-Coronavirus lockdown, although the Swans will have to travel away four times in midweek to Birmingham, Nottingham Forest and Millwall, before ending the regular season at Reading on Wednesday, July 22 (ko tbc).

The Bluebirds’ next match after Leeds – away at Preston – will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

The Championship season will restart with Brentford’s west London derby against Fulham on June 20 before Leeds face Cardiff a day later.

That opening clash could have huge ramifications for the promotion race, given Fulham, in third, will need a win against the fourth-placed Bees to keep up with Leeds, who are seven points clear.

West Brom, second, will then face Birmingham at 3pm on the Saturday in the second televised game of the day before Leeds’ clash on Sunday.

The action returns with a derby double-header on Saturday, June 20 as west London rivals Fulham and Brentford meet at Craven Cottage (12.30pm), before second-placed West Brom take on Birmingham later that afternoon (3pm) with the chance to go top – for a few hours at least.

Current leaders Leeds will try to retain their advantage and edge that bit closer to a Premier League return when they travel to Cardiff for a midday kick-off on Sunday, June 21.

Sky Sports has confirmed a further eight games to be broadcast live up to the beginning of July, including more crunch clashes at the top between Leeds and Fulham, and Brentford and West Brom.

The race for the play-offs will also be in the spotlight, with Nottingham Forest, Preston, Bristol City and Millwall all set to feature in June.
