Canadian goaltender Travis Fullerton broke Cardiff Devils hearts in Scotland.

Former Braehead and Edinburgh netminder Fullerton faced 39 shots and conceded only one goal in an Elite League match which was often dominated by the Welsh club.

Stars could only ice 14 skaters, while Devils were without injured trio Joey Haddad, Mark Louis and Craig Moore.

Devils outshot their hosts 39-25, but Fullerton was in magnificent form and denied Devils in a 3-1 home win.

The Scottish team led 1-0 after the first period thanks to an early goal by Riley Stradel (4-37) and were two goals ahead after 24-32 when Jordan Cownie fired home.

Tyson Strachan pulled a goal back unassisted, but Devils could not beat Fullerton again.

Strachan, Paul Crowder, Bryce Reddick and Sean Bentivoglio were all outstanding for Devils, but too many Devils players fell short of standards set so far this season.

Stars produced a team display full of heart and character, working together in a style which surely impressed player-coach Omar Pasha.

Joey Martin, Bentivoglio and Matt Pope started for Devils, while Crowder, Jake Morissette and Lord followed them out onto the ice.

Devils have two fixtures this weekend, at home against Fife Flyers on Saturday (Ice Arena Wales, 7pm) before travelling to Nottingham Panthers the next day (4pm).
