Briton Ferry Llansawel’s impressive under-19 team take on Cardiff City in the Welsh Youth Cup on Sunday.
The match is at the Bluebirds’ Vale Resort training ground this Sunday (November 19, Noon) and West Wales Youth League leaders Briton Ferry will believe they have a shot at springing a surprise in the last 16 clash.
Ferry have opened their League title bid with seven successive wins, scoring 47 goals and conceding eight.
They won 14-1 in their latest match, beating Tumble thanks to goals from Jamie Burns (4), Reuben Harris (4), Luke Mildenhall (2), Evan Williams (2), Dan Roberts and Joe Stiens.
Ferry defeated STM Sports 2-0 away in the last round of the Wales Under-19 Cup, while manager Craig Bellamy and his City team have scored nine goals in the first two rounds.
They defeated Ely Rangers 4-1 after extra time and then swept past Merthyr Town 5-0 to earn the home tie against Ferry.
Newport-born George Ratcliffe, who has been with the Bluebirds Academy for 10 seasons, or Warren Burwood, from Norfolk, are competing top be starting goalkeeper.
Wales youth international Ratcliffe, 17, is a commanding, reliable and composed young goalkeeper who started his apprenticeship last summer.
Burwood, also 17, is from Gorleston in Norfolk and was a schoolboy with Norwich City before joining Cardiff in 2016.

The Swans won 4-1 against Garden Village in the last round thanks to goals from Causso Darame (2), Oliver Cooper and Jack Fox.

Goals from Owen Taylor, Owura Edwards, Tom Hillman and Josh Williams earned a 4-0 victory for the Young Exiles against Risca United at Ty Isaf Park.

Cardiff City’s under-18 Academy team lost 2-0 against Coventry City in Newport. Jack Burroughs scored both goals for the Sky Blues.
Sam Bowen and Sion Spence both went close to goals, while captain Jack Bodenham produced outstanding defensive work to deny Coventry.
