Lauren Price booked her ticket to the quarter-finals of the World Championships in India as she outboxed Ireland’s Aiofe O’Rourke in her preliminary round contest.

Newport’s Commonwealth Games champ beat the Roscommon fighter by a unanimous decision in New Delhi in the 75Kg category.

Price will face Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcki in the last eight round on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old was one of two Welsh fighters competing at the worlds.

Team-mate Rosie Eccles bowed out in her 69kg preliminary round contest on a  split decision (4-1) to Myriam Karine Da Silva Rondeau of Canada.
