Sam Bowen scored a last gasp winner for Cardiff City in their Professional Development League under-18 home match against Ipswich Town.
Bowen struck in the final minute to seal a 2-1 win for coach Craig Bellamy’s team at Cardiff Sports Campus.
Ipswich, who have former Bluebirds striker Alan Lee in charge of their team, had equalised with seven minutes left.
Cardiff took a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes when Connor Davies sprinted down the right and crossed for Laurence Wootton to shoot home.
They almost double that advantage two minutes later when a shot rebounded off a post, while goalkeeper Toby Egan saved well from a fierce Sion Spence shot.
The ball ran loose, but Isaak Davies could not beat a defender to the ball.
Bellamy’s Bluebirds were awarded a penalty just before the hour, but the spot-kick, taken by Spence, was saved.
French player Idris El Mizouni made it 1-1 when he fired into the bottom left corner after 83 minutes, but Cardiff finished strongly.
Wooden went close to scoring from a diving header before Bowen’s low shot from just inside the penalty area flew into the net to clinch a 2-1 win.
Cardiff’s youth team play Bristol City away next Saturday, while they have drawn Aberystwyth Town at home in the Welsh Under-19 Cup.
