Barry Town Host Holders Swansea In FAW Youth Cup

Holders Swansea City have been drawn against Barry Town United in the last 16 of the Welsh Youth (Under-19) Cup.

The draw for the third round at Dragon Park in Newport and the Swans, who have won this trophy for the last seven years, travel to Barry’s Jenner Park stadium on Sunday, November 19.

Causso Darame (2), Oliver Cooper and Jack Fox scored for Swansea in their 4-1 win at Garden Village in the last round.

Head coach Craig Bellamy and his Cardiff City team won 5-0 against Merthyr Town in their last cup fixture and their reward is a home tie against Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Former Cardiff City defender Byron Anthony is Newport County coach and their under-19 team defeated Risca United 4-0 and have been drawn against Caerau Ely away in the third round.

Goals from Owen Taylor, Owura Edwards, Tom Hillman and Josh Williams earned victory for the Young Exiles at Ty Isaf Park.

Newport County (v Risca): Webb, Jay Williams, Hunt, Savigar, Murray, Foulston (capt), Edwards (Warman 61), Taylor, Bishop (Williams 46), Hillman (Benham 79), Cook. Subs not used: Beckett, Roberts.

In the north section of the Welsh Youth Cup Flint Town United, 4-1 winners at Rhyl in their last tie, will play Airbus UK Broughton in a Flintshire derby.

FAW Youth Cup third round draw:

North: Flint Town United v Airbus UK Broughton, Llandudno v Cefn Druids, Connah’s Quay Nomads v Caernarfon Town.

South: Aberystwyth Town v Afan Lido, Barry Town United v Swansea City, Villa Dino Christchurch v Carmarthen Town, Cardiff City v Briton Ferry Llansawel, Caerau Ely v Newport County.

All ties are to be played on or before Sunday, November 19.
