Bangor City have unexpectedly announced that Manager Ian Dawes has been relieved of his duties after just four months in charge of the club.

A statement released this morning confirmed Dawes was dismissed “due to the inability to gain his acceptance on the current Pro Licence course in accordance with UEFA club licensing criteria”.

FAW/UEFA licensing criteria dictates that all first-team managers must hold or be studying for an UEFA Pro Licence.

Dawes was only appointed as manager in November and had been expected to play a key-role in the club’s transition from semi-professional into a full-time professional organisation this summer.

Current player/assistant manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis with club currently fourth in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League table with three games remaining.

Dawes’ predecessor Andy Legg was also suddenly dismissed after less than four months in the role following his appointment last August.

Dawes led Bangor to eight wins, seven defeats and one draw during his brief tenure.
