Kris Jones has been given a call-up in GB’s senior men’s team for Sunday’s European Cross Country Championships in Holland.
The Scotland-based, Swansea Harrier finished sixth at the trials in Liverpool last month to just miss out on automatic selection.
But Jones, who has also competed internationally run orienteering, will compete in Tilburg after Andy Vernon was forced to pull out of the team through injury.

He will join fellow Welsh athletes Charlie Hulson and Dewi Griffiths in the senior men’s team.
The duo had finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 9.8km race at Sefton Park where Wales won three of the four individual events.
And that means eight Welsh athletes will be competing for GB on Sunday.
