Pembrokeshire athlete James Tomlinson will represent Great Britain at the European Throwing Cup in Slovakia this weekend.
Tomlinson, who has been named in a nine-strong Great Britain team, will compete in the under-23 men’s discus competition.
The event in Samorin on Saturday and Sunday will see some of the world’s top senior and junior throwers taking part.
One of the highlights of last year’s event in Portugal was world javelin champion Johannes Vetter adding seven metres to the championship record of 92.70m.

Tomlinson is no stranger to representing Great Britain having finished 10th at last year’s World Under-20 Championships in Finland.
In 2017 he won a silver medal for Wales at the Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.
The 19-year-old is in good form having won the Loughborough Winter Throws Open last month recording a distance of 53.13m in his debut with the 2k weight discus.
Peter Stanley, head of field and combined events at British Athletics, said: “The European Throwing Cup once again provides a great opportunity for our athletes to compete against the best on the continent so early on in the season.
“For those making the step up to either senior or under-23 level, Samorin offers a great development opportunity as they build towards reaching major championships this year and over the next few years.
“The Winter Throws Open in Loughborough at the weekend produced some great performances and we are looking forward to what the team can achieve in Slovakia as they move up to throwing with the best in Europe.”
