Albert Adomah Is On My Radar . . . Cardiff City’s Neil Harris To Wheel And Deal

Albert Adomah is still on Cardiff City’s radar, according to manager Neil Harris.

The Bluebirds boss had the Nottingham Forest winger on loan during the second half of last season and was impressed with the impact made by the experienced former Aston Villa star.

But Adomah returned to Forest after lockdown and his parent club refused to extend his loan spell to cover the re-start of the campaign – much to Harris’s dissatisfaction.

Adomah still appears out of favour at Forest under manager Sabri Lamouchi and Harris admitted: “Albert will always be on my radar because he’s a really good bloke and his record in a Cardiff shirt was very impressive.

“Albert is certainly a player, if given the opportunity, I would love to work with again. Will that be in this window? I’m not sure about that.”

“At the moment, we have four wide players who are all desperate to play. But Albert did great for me and I’m really fond of Albert.”

QPR are also said to be keen to sign Adomah and if Cardiff were to enter the race in the last few days of the transfer window, it seems certain Harris would need to offload either Gavin Whyte or Josh Murphy, neither of whom have been able to hold down a regular starting spot lately.

Harris insists he is not finished dealing in this window, although any more incomings are likely to happen nearer deadline day itself on Monday, or the extended deadline for domestic only deals which is October 16.

He added: “I don’t expect anything to happen before Saturday, that’s the first port of call after that, then I’d love to add to the group.

“A lot is made when people leave as well as when people come in. I’m really happy with the group I’ve got now – really pleased with the quality I have, pleased with the dynamic of the changing room, we have really good characters now.

“But sometimes you want to add to that and give players help. It’s a busy period and there is going to be a lot of emphasis put on players to play minutes.  So, as a manger I would like to protect the players and have some options during that.

“Up to the 16th October is the deadline we are working to. It is a time frame where I would like to be in a position to add to the group, definitely.

“If you had an endless pit you’d want to add a few players to the group, but you have to be mindful of where we are in current times.

“I’ve spoken about adding to the attacking end of the pitch. That is first and foremost the thought process and maybe look back at the first few games of the season, where we may be were a bit light in numbers where we feel we may need a little bit more competition.

“It’s about getting the right characters and the right quality of player to make us better.”
