Wales step up their preparations for the Men’s World League Rd 2 when they face the USA in a three game series in Spain.

The series starts on Friday in Barcelona and will give the men’s squad vital game time against a different style of opposition.

World League Rd 2 takes place in Belfast from March 11-19th where the men will be looking to emulate the women who reached the semi-finals in Malaysia.

Head Coach Zak Jones said: ”It has been a few years since we have played the USA and we are really looking forward to the challenge they will present.

“The group are also really looking forward to some warm weather training and getting the final WL2 preparation phase underway.

“This trip gives us the perfect opportunity to reinforce the behaviours, and build on the tactics that we have been developing over the past 12 months.

“It will not only be a good measure of where we currently stand, but also help us to identify the key areas we still need to improve on prior to WL2 in March.”

The USA are currently ranked 29th in the world, five places ahead of Wales.

Head of Performance Dan Clements said: “We are really looking forward to World League round 2 and the opportunity for our men’s side to compete against some of the biggest nations in Europe.

“The tournament in Belfast is a very strong field of nations, including recent Olympians Ireland, and our men’s side will be looking to put in some strong performances after a very encouraging 2016.”
