Wales women’s manager Jayne Ludlow is looking for progress from her team in this month’s friendly against the Republic of Ireland.
Ludlow has named a squad of 21 for the fixture at Newport’s Rodney Parade on August 19.
Wales face final UEFA women’s Euro qualifiers against Israel and Austria, but are already out of contention for the tournament finals after losing 2-0 at home to Norway in June.
Ludlow said: “I was pleased with the team’s performance against Norway back in June. It was a tough fixture but a loss of concentration for a few seconds against top level opponents cost us.
“The development of the team and individuals within the group has been pleasing since the turn of the year and there is a great belief and team spirit within the squad, so we are looking forward to every fixture we play.
“The friendly against Republic of Ireland will be a great opportunity to continue our development. The fact that we have two games in quick succession will allow us to give competitive game time to a large number of the squad which includes some talented younger players coming through the system.”
