Manager Gavin Williams is sticking with the Martyrs – and that’s official.
Merthyr Town have released news today that former West Ham midfield player Williams has agreed to extend his contract.
No details have been announced yet, but Merthyr Tydfil-born Williams has committed to the EvoStik Southern League club.
He leads his players on a Premier Division to complete a double against Weymouth, having beat the title-chasing South coast club 2-1 at the MetCoaches Community Stadium earlier this month.
The Terras are planning a big welcome for Merthyr Town at the Bob Lucas Stadium and midfield player Josh Carmichael, a former Scotland under-19 international, says: “That defeat in South Wales will give us an added edge to go out there and put it right. It will be interesting.

“We all have the same goal, we want to win this league. Players and staff must come together now.”
Poole-born Carmichael, aged 24, is a former Bournemouth and Torquay United player is likely to start against the Martyrs, while Terras manager Mark Molesley says their defeat in South Wales hurt his players.
“Anything we can add to fuel our fire for the game we will use, but we always treat each game in isolation,” he said. “We know Merthyr are a good side. They proved that at their stadium.
“Hopefully we can react from that game in a big way.”
While Wales prepare to play England in the Six Nations rugby championship on Saturday, Weymouth reckon they have the advantage against Welsh opposition.
Over the last four decades Weymouth have played 67 matches against Welsh sides, winning 35 and losing 20.
The Terras also boast a good record against Merthyr, having lost twice in the past 20 years and won 13 times.
