Cardiff City suffered a 3-0 defeat in their Professional Development League Under-23 fixture against Bristol City at the SGS Wise Campus.

Bluebirds captain Lloyd Humphries laid down a wreath of daffodils and tulips before kick-off as a mark of respect to the missing Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson.

Cardiff’s u-23 top scorer James Waite and u-18 leading marksman Dan Griffiths both started, but the home team emerged winners thanks to three second half goals.

Griffiths headed against a post after four minutes, while Laurence Wootton and Sion Spence had shots blocked in a lively start by Cardiff.

Tom Richards fired the Robins in front after 55 minutes when he netted from close range, while London-born Hakeeb Adelakun added a second with 76 minutes gone.

Former Crystal Palace, West Ham and Scunthorpe United striker Adelakun was a potent threat to the Bluebirds during the second half, while 20-year-old Richards completed the scoring during injury time.

He was again in the right place at the right time to find the net from close range.
