Aaron Rees described his side’s 3-0 victory over Roath Park Rangers as a “lovely win” after he scored the opening goal for Pontprennau Pumas in Cardiff Combination Football League’s first ‘Game of the Week’ of the new season.
Rees netted a few minutes into the second half after a goalless first half to set them up on their way to a convincing victory.
The team from Pontprennau scored their second goal through a Kurtis Wara penalty and then added a late third through new signing Mitchell Berry, whose shot went across the Rangers keeper and nestled in the back of the net.

“We had a lovely win, 3-0 in the game of the week,” said Rees. “A lovely goal from me.
“I am very happy to get the season started after a very good season last year – very happy about that.”
After a progressive season last year the Pumas have bought in players like Berry to strengthen their squad.
“Mitch is the new player in the team, so very happy for him,” added Rees.
Rees also praised newly formed side Roath Park Rangers, adding: “They are younger than us and played good football. They just need to improve on their confidence and they will settle well in this league.”
Speaking ahead of the remainder of their season, Rees said: “We have got to keep working hard and we will see how the season goes.”
