Rhys Healey is in sizzling goalscoring form for the Bluebirds.
The former Welsh Premier League forward has already scored 11 goals during pre-season and Professional Development League under-23 matches.
Healey and substitute Ibrahim Meite, who has returned to fitness after injury, were the scorers in Cardiff City’s 2-0 win against Barnsley at Cardiff International Sports Campus.
The victory on Monday afternoon completed a club hat-trick. City have had three homes games in three days and kept three clean sheets.
Manager Neil Warnock’s team drew 0-0 against Newcastle United in the Premier League, while Craig Bellamy’s under-18 group defeated Birmingham City 1-0.
Kadeem Harris shone for the young Bluebirds in their PDL League match against Barnsley, who had defender Louis Wardle sent off just before half-time for a second bookable offence.
Cameron Coxe and Harris had to have treatment for injuries during the match, but both recovered to complete 90 minutes.
Harris fired Cardiff ahead just after the hour with a close range finish, while Meite netted the second two minutes from the end.
Former Harrow Borough striker Meite, who had a spell on loan with Crawley last season, is back playing after injury and went on for Jack McKay after 63 minutes.
Jamie Veale went close with a fierce shot for Cardiff, but was denied by a fingertip save from goalkeeper Jake Greatorex.
The Bluebirds included three first team squad members with Brian Murphy in goal. Defender Matt Connolly and Harris were the other two.

Welsh striker Isaak Davies fired Cardiff City’s winner in their Professional Development League Under-18 match against Birmingham City at home.
The 16-year-old from Cwmdare in the Cynon Valley has been with the Bluebirds since he was a young schoolboy and was spotted playing for Cwmbach Royal Stars at the age of five.
Davies scored the only goal against Birmingham during the first half, firing into the top left-hand corner after 38 minutes.
The win was an excellent follow-up to Cardiff’s 5-0 victory at Colchester United in their opening game.
Birmingham reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals last season before losing against Chelsea and have a strong under-18 group.
Davies was a constant threat to Birmingham, firing over the bar after a driving run at the Birmingham defence and then shooting narrowly wide after going past a defender.
