Wrexham manager Andy Davies is demanding a big reaction from his Wrexham players in their Vanarama National League match against Eastleigh in Hampshire today (Saturday, 3pm).
The Dragons lost 1-0 at home against Boredom Wood in their last fixture, a result which ended their 16-match unbeaten run.
“I’m expecting a reaction which I think I’ll get and hopefully we’ll also pick up three important points,” said Davies.
“Our defeat against Boreham Wood could be kick needed for us to revitalise ourselves again because we have been on a fantastic run.
“The players want to put things right on the pitch. I believe they will.”
Eastleigh have beaten Dover and Aldershot in their last two matches and manager Andy Hessenthaler’s Spitfires are gunning for Wrexham.
Former Newport County player Chris Zebroski and Paul McCallum scored for Eastleigh in their 2-0 win against Aldershot, a win which took them 50-points mark.
Hessenthaler praised his teams ‘grit, determination and quality’.
“We still have a lot of say in promotion and relegation issues. We’re not going to let the other teams down.
“We’re going to try and win the six games we have left and finish the season on a high.”
Wrexham have lost fewer games than any other team in the National League, but they have the highest number of draws – 17 in 41 matches – and those lost points have ended any hopes of winning the title.
The Reds, though, are still chasing hard to finish in the play-offs.
Defender Kevin Roberts will miss the match at Eastleigh’s Ten Acres Stadium because of suspension after he was sent off against Wood.
