Cardiff Devils Players Celebrate Life In Wales

Cardiff Devils spent St David’s Day celebrating life in Wales. Coach Andrew Lord and his players trained at Ice Arena Wales before doing their best to sing the Welsh national anthem.

The Devils roster, mainly Canadians, includes one Welshman – Cardiff-born Matthew Myers – plus Bryce Reddick (USA), Craig Moore (Scotland), Toms Rutkis (Latvia) and four from England.

After a mixture of success and failure their attempted renditions of ‘Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau’ the players joined fans for afternoon tea at Ice Arena Wales.

Captain Jake Morissette and his team are preparing for crunch matches against Manchester Storm in Elite League and Sunday’s Challenge Cup final against Belfast Giants.

Coach Ryan Finnerty, a former Devils captain, brings his Storm team to Cardiff Bay on Friday evening (7.30pm) for a clash which is crucial to the title chase.

Devils will be wearing special green St David’s Day shirts in the match against a Storm team who are second in the League table.

They are 10 points behind leaders Cardiff and both teams have eight fixtures left this season.

Special green St David’s Day shirts will be worn by Cardiff Devils against Manchester Storm on Friday.

Devils have six of their at home including Friday’s clash with Storm.

Manchester will be without forward Shane Bakker, who has been suspended for two games.

Friday’s match against Storm is a 3,000-plus sellout, but those without a ticket can watch the live via the IceTime TV stream.
