Martyrs Ready For Big Chesham Home Challenge

Merthyr Town take on a major test at their Loadlok Comunity Stadium home when Chesham United come to South Wales on Saturday (3pm).

Chesham are fifth in the Southern League Premier Division and unbeaten in five matches, winning three, drawing two and keeping three clean sheets.

The Martyrs have earned seven points from the last nine on offer, against the bottom three teams in Southern League Premier Division football, and have stabilised their position in the table.

Their scheduled match at Royston last weekend was postponed because the pitch was unfit and that gave manager Gavin Williams and his medical team the chance to assess injuries.

Captain Ashley Evans needs an operation on an injury which affected him last season. Merthyr will have to manage when and how often he plays over the rest of this season.

Corey Jenkins is on the mend after sustaining an ankle injury, while Scott Tancock (calf) and Jaye Bowen (hamstring) are also doubtful.

Merthyr are 18th on 41 points and will take confidence their three-game unbeaten run.

Merthyr Town, from: Oliver Davies (gk), Adam Davies, Kyle Patten, Matthew Harris, Jarrad Wright, Liam Martin, Miles John, Craig Reddy, Harry Franklin, Gavin Williams, Kerry Morgan, Ian Traylor, Corey Jenkins, Scott Tancock, Jaye Bowen, Owain Jones, Lee Price, Ryan Prosser.

Merthyr Town FC, admission: Adult £10, Concessions £8 (Over 65’s, Cardiff City, Swansea City, Newport County season ticket holders), Merthyr RFC season ticket holders £5, under-16 £1.
