The Imps Are Critical Test For Newport County

Michael Flynn admits Newport County’s FA Cup replay against Spurs at Wembley Stadium is a ‘daunting prospect’ but he won’t be giving it a thought just yet.

Manager Flynn is intent and focused on Tuesday night’s League Two clash with Lincoln City at Sincil Bank (7.45pm).

Nothing else matters right now – and Flynn won’t take much notice of the FA Cup draw which pits the winners of Spurs v County against Millwall or Rochdale.

Newport, the lowest ranked team left in the FA Cup, are intent on maintaining their promotion push and they take on a Lincoln City team who are one point behind them in 10th place.

Captain Joss Labadie and his team took on Harry Kane and Deli Alli against Spurs, while they will be out to stop former Newport County and Cardiff City forward Matt Green at Lincoln.

Green, 31, started his career at Newport, scored 12 goals and earned a £10,000 transfer to the Bluebirds.

Lincoln’s team also includes former Wales international Neil Eardley.

Swansea City face a replay against Notts County and the winners play Sheffield Wednesday away.

A Swans win would take manager Carlos Carvalhal back to Hillsborough where he was in charge of Wednesday before taking over at the Liberty Stadium.

Premier League leaders Manchester City, who won 2-0 against Cardiff City in the fourth round, will visit League One leaders Wigan in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

That is a repeat of the 2013 FA Cup final, which Wigan, who were then a Premier League team, won 1-0.

Manchester United are away against Premier League side Huddersfield or Championship club Birmingham, while Chelsea are at home against Hull.

The fifth round ties will take place on the weekend of February 17 and 18.

Notts County’s replay at Swansea on Tuesday, February 6 will be broadcast live on BBC One (8.05pm)..
