Wrexham Step Up To Second Ahead Of Xmas Fixtures

Wrexham are second in the Vanarama National League and bang on course for promotion.

The Dragons are only halfway through the season, but they earned a crucial goalless draw against rivals Dover Athletic.

Manager Dean Keates and his team how have three fixtures between now and New Year’s Day.

The draw against Dover lifted them above Sutton United and they now face Barrow’s Bluebirds home and away plus Gateshead.

Their next two fixtures are away, at Barrow and Gateshead, while they are at home on January 1 against Barrow.

Wrexham still haven’t beaten Dover in eight matches between the clubs, but they won’t worry too much about that after a fiercely contested National League clash at the Racecourse.

There were few chances for either team in a physical match.

Wrexham are two points behind leaders Macclesfield Town, who drew against Bromley. Sutton lost 3-1 against Tranmere Rovers.

Shaun Pearson made the 300th league appearance in his career, while the draw means Wrexham have suffered only one home league defeat before Christmas since 2010.
