Premier Under-23 Development League
Cardiff City 1, Hull City 2
Jahvan Davidson-Miller is the mystery trialist who scored for Cardiff City’s under-23 development team during their win at Huddersfield Town – and he remains with the Bluebirds.
Teenage striker Davidson-Miller led the City attack in their home match against Hull City. He’s a tall, powerful, right-sided centre-forward who produced some good touches.
Derby-born Davidson-Miller, who celebrates his 19th birthday, was a scholar for two years at his home city club. He is on trial with Cardiff City from Derbyshire club Belper Town.
There were five trialists in the Bluebirds’ squad at Huddersfield and three of them have stayed with the Championship club. They are Davidson-Miller, Ciaron Brown and Thomas Gaydu, who were all in the under-23 squad against Hull City at Cardiff City Stadium.
First team player Callum Paterson, who is on his way back from injury, made his first appearance for a Cardiff team completed the first half as planned. He then went off, replaced by Sion Spence, and will continue his rehab on the training ground.
The progress of defender Brown, 20, with non-League Wealdstone is being monitored by Sheffield Wednesday and several other Championship clubs, while he is working to impress during his spell with Cardiff.
Brown, who is composed in possession, joined Wealdstone from Combined Counties League Bedfont Sports at the start of last season and quickly settled into Vanarama National League South football.
He is more than six feet tall, physically strong and is most comfortable at centre-back, while he can also play at left-back.
Gaydu, from Guadeloupe, is a 19-year-old striker who has played for Inter’s under-19 team and French club Frejus Saint Raphael.
Tom Powell (10 mins) and Tyler Hamilton (34) scored Hull City’s goals at Cardiff City Stadium, while Mark Harris replied for Cardiff (81).
Sian Spence went close to an equaliser when his shot was saved by Hull goalkeeper Callum Burton, while Davidson-Miller produced a strong run and clipped a low past back from the bye-line for Harris. He went for goal, but Burton was again able to stop the effort.
Cardiff City: Oliver Byrne, Tyrone Duffus, Rhys Abruzzese, Jamie Veale (capt), Ciaron Brown, Connor Young (Ryan Reynolds 46), Callum Paterson (Sion Spence 46), James Waite, Jahvan Davidson-Miller, Mark Harris, Cameron Coxe.
