Elfyn Evans bagged his best result at Rally Portugal – but reckons it could have been even better.
The Dolgellau flier finished sixth with co-driver Daniel Barritt with his pace close to adding more fastest stage times this season.
Evans recovered from a puncture and an off-road trip that dropped him down the order to gradually move back up the standings.
And he picked up three points from the power stage and is sixth in the drivers standings with in his DMACK Ford Fiesta with 53 points.
The 28-year-old said: “It’s been a rally of ups and downs.
“It’s not been the perfect weekend, but there are plenty of good things to take away.
“It wasn’t ideal that we made the mistake on Saturday, but when the going was good, so was the speed and we have to take that positive forward.”
Evans finished three minutes 10.6 secs down on France’s four-time champ Sebastien Ogier who claimed his second win for the M-Sport team.
